"La Cage Aux Folles" is a musical focusing on a gay couple; George and Albin. George owns a popular and lively nightclub that only hosts drag entertainment. His partner, Albin, is Saint-Tropez's main 'showgirl.' All is well, until George's son brings home his fiancée's super conservative parents to meet the quirky couple. It just so happens that the father of the fiancée is a politician that is determined to shut down the nightclub. They family then tries to hide their liberal lifestyle, but the question is... can they keep it up?
This fantastic and upbeat musical is a hillarious story of family values, unconditional love, pride and respect of self. At the time of its original performance, "La Cage Aux Folles" was the first gay-themed theatre show to appear onstage on Broadway. "La Cage Aux Folles" was dedicated to AIDS victims and bringing awareness to the gay community. Although "La Cage Aux Folles" is based around the gay community and its characters are gay, the play itself does not have any gay sexual connotation at all making it suitable for the entire family.
"La Cage Aux Folles" is starring Douglas Hodge and Denis Lawson at the Playhouse Theatre.
