Gun Salute 2010 If you have never experienced an English gun salute before, then this is an absolute must! Witness tens of guns being fired into the air in unison to mark special Royal occasions, all in the name of tradition!

The 21 gun salute is an old tradition often used as part of ceremonies commemorating the Royal family, the British Empire, or the Commonwealth. The best occasions on which to witness this spectacle are the Queen's birthday in April, her Official Birthday Celebration in June, or her Coronation Day - also in June.

The Queen's Birthday on 21st April

The Queens birthday is celebrated with salutes in Hyde Park at 12.00 noon and at the Tower of London one hour later. Go back in time and see the 41-gun salute in Hyde Park or the 62-gun salute at the Tower of London!

The Queen's Official Bithday Celebration

Salutes are fired at 11.00 in Green Park and at the Tower of London at 13.00. The famous Trooping the Colour is held on Horse Guards Parade in St James Park. The parade is made up of over 1,400 officers and men from The Household Cavalry (guards of the monarchy) together with 200 horses, and a marching band of 400 musicians, drummers, and bagpipers! The parade route leads from Buckingham Palace along the Mall to Horse Guards Parade and Whitehall, and arrives back at Buckingham Palace.

Given the popularity of this ceremony, visitors are advised to book their accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Don’t miss the centuries old Gun Salute at Queen Elizabeth II's birthday, and of course the unforgettable Parade!
