Chinese New Year is not only a huge celebration in the Far East but also, surprisingly, in London! Last year’s Chinese New Year in London drew 50.000 visitors. With many spectacular events events from the Orient, London is arguably the best place to celebrate this event outside of the Far East.

Because the Chinese use a different calendar, Chinese New Year varies each year. In 2010 the celebration falls on 14th February - Valentine's Day!

Celebrate in London’s Trafalgar Square, where the New Year starts and showcases a diverse range of live performers, singers and dancers from China, and of course the well known traditional Chinese dragon and Lion dance shows.

Alternatively, there is another celebration in Leicester Square with firecrackers, fireworks and restaurants with the best taste of China. What a way to spend a double holiday!

You will also find that many of London’s museums and galleries get involved in the Chinese New Year season. Check for special exhibitions and events at the British Museum or the Victoria and Albert Museum.
